Netherlands vs West Indies - 1st ODI review
Netherlands vs West Indies - 1st ODI review
The ODI side is under new management as Nicholas Pooran took charge of his first official game as West Indies captain.
The team got off to a fine start with a clinical seven wicket win over the Netherlands to secure 10 ODI Super league points.
Machel is in the Netherlands for all three games so took some time out to review the proceedings from the game and the key things learnt.
As ever get in the comments below and let us know your thoughts if you were either present or watched the game on TV

West Indies Championship - 4th round review show
West Indies Championship - 4th round review show
The fourth round of the West Indies Championship is over and it confirmed that the title is now between Barbados Pride or Leeward Islands Hurricanes
Leeward Islands comprehensively beat the hapless Windward Islands and Barbados smashed Trinidad to ensure that the title is in their hands to lose.
Away from those two, Jamaica and Guyana played out a bore draw that did little else than raise the stock of Tagenarine Chanderpaul further.
All that said as ever the most important thing was assessing the winners/losers from round four. Who were the players that stood out?
The bigger picture remains that Bangladesh will be touring the Caribbean in July for two test matches.
With that said each of the West Indies Championship rounds take on even more significance. There are a number of places in the West Indies test squad that arent secure and good performances in the West Indies Championship should put players under pressure.
Machel (@mashstpaddy) took to the hot-seat once more to assess the fourth round standout performers to identify which players have put themselves in the conversation for test match selection.

West Indies Championship - 3rd round review show
West Indies Championship - 3rd round review show
The third round of the West Indies Championship is over and it turned up a number of surprises.
Leeward Islands comprehensively beat Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana beat a 'star studded' Barbados to also put themselves right back in the title winning mix.
All that said more important than the winners/losers were the players that stood out.
The bigger picture remains that Bangladesh will be touring the Caribbean in July for two test matches.
With that said each of the WI Championship rounds take on even more significance. There are a number of places in the West Indies test squad that aren’t secure and good performances in the West Indies Championship should put players under pressure.
Therefore Machel (@mashstpaddy) took to the hot-seat to assess the third round standout performers to identify which players have put themselves in the conversation for test match selection.

West Indies ODI squad vs Netherlands & Pakistan (Reaction video)
West Indies ODI squad vs Netherlands & Pakistan (Reaction video)
With less than two weeks to go until the start of the West Indies tour of Netherlands and Pakistan, the Caribbean Cricket Podcast analyses the white ball squad.
The tour represents Nicholas Pooran's first assignment as permanent West Indies captain and the squad he has been given certainly raises some eyebrows.
As ever nothing is ever straight-forward in West Indies cricket as once again players are missing/unavailable in another case of bad optics.
That said Machel (@mashstpaddy) jumped into the 'hot-seat' to analyse the squad and what we can make of the selected names. Who does or does not deserve to be there? What was the rationale for their selection?

Cool and Smooth T20 explosion 2022 (w/ Dario Barthley)
Cool and Smooth T20 explosion 2022 (w/ Dario Barthley)
Why don’t we have a Caribbean T20 tournament under the CPL? It's a familiar lament but one not grounded in fact.
Since 2013 a successful Caribbean T20 competition has been running out of Antigua but despite its success it's a model that is yet to be replicated across the region.
Dario Barthley, Operations Manager for the Cool and Smooth T20 explosion, came on the Caribbean Cricket Podcast to talk about the history of the tournament, the current edition and how to build a successful T20 tournament.
Make sure you follow the live stream of the Cool and Smooth tournament on the You Tube and Facebook channel (Cool & Smooth T20 explosion) and on Instagram (@cstwenty20)

"Oh Captain! My Captain!" - Pollard retires from West Indies duty (Live call in show)
"Oh Captain! My Captain!" - Pollard retires from West Indies duty (Live call in show)
It's safe to say that no one other than those closest to Kieron Pollard would have seen his retirement decision coming.
Most expected Pollard to see the T20 side thru to the end of the 2022 T20 World Cup and then the ODI side though to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
However he has called time and some say earnt the right to call time after 224+ international appearances.
There will undoubtedly be a subsection of the West Indian fanbase who will continue to argue that this is the best thing for West Indies cricket.
However this a chance for all fans to have their say in a Caribbean Cricket Podcast live phone in show.

Is Dre Russ fully committed to the West Indies?
Is Dre Russ fully committed to the West Indies?
There is a T20 World Cup at the end of 2022 but we havent seen Dre Russ in West Indian colours since the end of the T20 World Cup in 2021.
As he blazes up yet another IPL - Are West Indian fans right to be questioning Dre Russ' place in the Maroon?
Is it one rule for Andre Russell and another for everyone else? Or should his time now come to an end irrespective of what he achieves in franchise leagues?
Machel (@mashstpaddy) jumped into the cuss out hot seat to dissect the issue in the way only he can.

CPL 2022 - Analysis of the local retained & signed list: Can anyone stop TKR?
Dre Russ and Pooran have joined TKR in a power move that has sent shockwaves around the CPL. Dinesh 'Dino' Mahabir (@cricdino) came through to the Caribbean Cricket Podcast studios to discuss the local retentions and signings.
Has it left more questions than answers? Are the cards stacked too heavily in TKR's favour?
